A couple of notes about this obituary for Gert Boyle. Her official title was chairman; she rejected the term “chairwoman”. And I don’t think I would have used the saccharine phrase “college sweetheart” to describe her husband. She met him at a fraternity party, where she confessed she had drunk so much that she had trouble standing up.
