Dude, we just buried the road.

The State of Colorado is seeking $168,000 in restitution after two snowboarders triggered an avalanche in March that buried an access road at the Eisenhower Tunnel on I-70. According to KDVR, 26-year-old Evan Hannibal and 38-year-old Tyler DeWitt pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor charges.

Hannibal told the television station, “If we had seen a sign at the top of the run that said this was closed terrain and you’re not allowed to ride it, by all means we would have turned around”.

DeWitt added that the Colorado Department of Transportation allowed a 4-foot crown of snow to sit above the tunnel, and “that raises questions” about who is at fault.
