The many posts about the coffee bars I’ve visited in Seoul might give the impression that I’m wasting my time here by simply surrounding myself with things that remind me of America. But part of modern Korean culture borrows ideas from America and then dials them up to 11.
Coffee culture has been embraced enthusiastically in Seoul. Not only is Starbucks ubiquitous, but Korean chains (some with logos that look mighty similar to Starbucks) are everywhere, too. And in some neighborhoods there Is an independent shop—like this morning’s spot, La Crescenta in the Mullae (문래) neighborhood—on nearly every block.
As for the coffee here at La Crescenta, they make a very good latte.
