Coronavirus in Scandanavia

I’m continuing to monitor the spread of the coronavirus in Sweden, my next destination. An elderly woman is the country’s first coronavirus fatality. She had not been traveling outside the country and had no contact with anyone who had traveled abroad.

The Swedish prime minister announced a ban on all public gatherings of more than 500 people.

In nearby Denmark the government ordered all schools and universities to close.

There are currently no travel restrictions between the United States and Sweden, although U.S. Senator Rick Scott has proposed closing U.S. borders to foreign tourists and quarantining U.S. residents returning to the country for 14 days.
